⚖️ Legal Experts Highlight Growing Contradictions in U.S. and International Cannabis Law
A new legal analysis argues that cannabis law has become increasingly fragmented, with federal and state governments often regulating similar cannabis products under conflicting legal frameworks. The article highlights inconsistencies between hemp and marijuana regulations, the differing treatment of medical and adult-use cannabis, and the challenges created by international drug treaties as more countries move toward legalization. The authors suggest these overlapping and sometimes contradictory rules have created a complex legal landscape that is becoming increasingly difficult for businesses, regulators and consumers to navigate. 🍁 Cannabis-Derived THC Shows Promise for Treating PTSD-Related Nightmares
A new clinical trial found that the prescription THC medication dronabinol significantly reduced the frequency and intensity of trauma-related nightmares in people with PTSD compared with a placebo. More than one-third of patients receiving the treatment reported that their nightmares disappeared completely after 10 weeks, while many others experienced substantial improvement. Researchers said the therapy appears particularly effective for nightmares and sleep disturbances, though it did not significantly improve PTSD symptoms overall. (MedicalXpress)
🧠 Frequent Cannabis Users May Wake Up With Elevated Stress Hormone Levels, Study Finds
Researchers at Oregon State University found that frequent cannabis users tend to wake up with higher levels of cortisol, the body's primary stress hormone, than nonusers. The findings suggest that regular cannabis use may be associated with changes in the body's natural stress-response system, even though many people use cannabis to manage stress. Researchers emphasized that the study does not prove cause and effect, but it raises new questions about how long-term cannabis use may influence stress regulation over time. The authors say additional longitudinal research is needed to better understand the relationship between cannabis use and the body's stress-response mechanisms.

🚨 California Cannabis Sales Remain Sluggish as Industry Struggles With Taxes and Illicit Competition
California’s legal cannabis market has fallen nearly 17% from its 2021 peak, with sales declining from roughly $5.8 billion to $4.8 billion by 2025 as businesses continue to face high taxes, complex regulations and competition from the illicit market. While sales in early 2026 showed signs of stabilization, growing less than 1% year over year, industry leaders say many licensed operators remain under significant financial pressure. The challenges have been especially difficult for small and craft cannabis businesses, which are increasingly being pushed out of the regulated market. Some analysts believe the market may be nearing a bottom, but meaningful growth remains uncertain. (Yahoo! Finance)
